What is Micro Export?
Micro export is a practical method that facilitates access to international markets for SMEs and e-commerce businesses. This allows companies to reach a broader global audience with their products.
Micro export transactions are conducted under specific weight and value limits. In Turkey, this limit is typically set at a single transaction weighing less than 300 kilograms and with a sales price below 15,000 euros. Micro export transactions are subject to 0% VAT, providing a financial advantage to businesses.
Simplified and faster customs procedures apply to shipments made under micro export. Transactions are carried out using the Electronic Trade Customs Declaration (ETGB). Shipments can be quickly and efficiently sent abroad through courier companies or logistics service providers.
Who can do e-export with Trendyol?
To be able to engage in micro export, you must first be a tax payer. This requires establishing a company. Having a joint-stock company, limited company, or sole proprietorship is sufficient to conduct micro export.
Start e-exporting with Trendyol in 7 steps
1. Join the Trendyol e-export program
Once you become a taxpayer and open your store on Trendyol, click the “Start Micro Export” button on the Seller Panel / Product List screen or go to the Product List / Export Products page. Approve micro export and create your products by listing those suitable for micro export.
2. Prepare your products
Create a list of the products you plan to sell for e-export. Upload product descriptions, prices, stock status, and images accurately and completely to Trendyol. When creating your products, entering the Customs Tariff Statistics Position (GTIP) code and country of origin is mandatory. Trendyol suggests GTIP codes and origin information for your products, but it is the seller’s responsibility to ensure their accuracy. To find the GTIP code for your product, simply enter the product category on the Turkish Ministry of Trade or Turkish Exporters Assembly websites. For example, typing “sweater” will allow you to select options like women/men/children.
If you are already selling domestically on Trendyol, you can add GTIP and origin information to your products and manage your sales through a single inventory.
Additionally, if you wish, you can approve the “Automatic Product Listing” option on Trendyol to automatically open newly added or not yet listed products for micro export daily. To use this feature, go to the Product / Product List / Export Products tab in the Seller Panel and click the “Automatically Open Eligible Products” button to approve it.
3. Create the sales invoice
The sales invoice process for micro export works differently from domestic sales invoices. You need to issue an “e-archive invoice” for the product you sold and share this invoice with the shipping operators. Micro export cannot be done with an e-invoice or paper invoice.
When issuing a micro export e-archive invoice, the following should be considered:
- The invoice type should be selected as “exemption” and the “Exemption Code” should be specified as 301.
- Address information must be included on the invoice.
- Country of origin information is mandatory.
- It is not mandatory to include the GTIP number on the invoice, but it is recommended.
- The invoice VAT rate should be set to 0%.
4. Logistics and shipping processes
You can ship your products abroad just as you would domestically, using the logistics and shipping companies partnered with Trendyol. These companies ensure that your products reach international customers quickly and securely.
5. Customs and tax procedures
When sending your products abroad under micro export, an ETGB (Electronic Trade Customs Declaration) must be issued. ETGB stands for Electronic Trade Customs Declaration and is a customs document specifically used in micro export. It allows small and medium-sized export transactions to be processed more quickly and efficiently. ETGB is typically issued by shipping and logistics companies, which handle the customs procedures on behalf of the exporter. Trendyol and the logistics companies will support you throughout this process.
6. Sales and customer relations
Track incoming orders and manage processes through the management panel provided by Trendyol. When communicating with international customers, make sure to provide fast and effective customer service. Communicating in English may be necessary.
7. Payment and collection
Trendyol supports international payment methods, allowing you to easily receive payments from customers. Just like with domestic sales, you will receive payments for your international sales regularly through Trendyol. Trendyol processes seller payments in scheduled intervals.
Products that can be sold through Micro Export
In online sales, there are products that are suitable and not suitable for international shipping due to legal and operational reasons. While some product groups are directly suitable for sale, others may have restrictions and conditions.
Products you can sell abroad through micro export include:
- Women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing
- Home textile products
- Design products
- Furniture items, etc.
Products subject to certain restrictions and conditions include medicines, precious metals like gold and silver, machinery, and textile fabrics. For medicine shipments, approval from the Ministry of Health is required. For precious metals like gold and silver, labor costs must be specified; for machine parts, details like AC, DC, and Watt information must be provided; and for textile products, the fabric composition must be clearly stated.
