What is tariff fee?

By way of “Customs Tax and Penalty Debt Inquiry System” allows the inquiry for tariff fee. Trade Ministry’s website by clicking Customs Tax and Penalty Debt Inquiry System, you can learn your tariff fees.

How is tariff fee paid?

You can pay your tariff payments from certain banks. The acceptable banks list for tariff fee payments in Turkey is below:

  • T.C. Ziraat Bankası A.Ş.
  • Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş.
  • Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası T.A.O.
  • Ziraat Katılım Bankası A.Ş.
  • Vakıf Katılım Bankası A.Ş.

What is the Customs Duty Exemption?

The absence of customs duty for some products imported or exported abroad is called Customs Duty Exemption.

According to a decision published on Official Gazette excluded goods are below:

  • Goods brought for examination, analysis or testing for the purpose of obtaining information or for industrial or commercial research purposes, to determine their qualities or other technical characteristics 
  • Biological materials that shipped from abroad to Turkey for medical study

What are tariff rates according to countries?

According to the Official Gazette decision that entered into force on May 1, 2022, the individual customs tax on the value of goods whose value does not exceed 150 euros:

  • In case of shipped directly from European Union countries 18%
  • In case of shipping from other countries 30% will be calculated.
  • For books or similar printed publications the tariff rate is 0%.

What is Additional Tariff?

The tax levied on some imported products in addition to the customs duty is called additional customs duty. Through additional tariff, it is aimed at protecting national manufacturers and the domestic market. By following the Official Gazette’s decisions related to your imported-goods you can find the detailed information.

How can the customs procedure be done?

The first step of customs clearance is that you submit a customs declaration. You will need a customs declaration when notifying the customs administration that you will export from Turkey to abroad. In customs entry form there are informations like sender-receiver company information, value, tariff, origin, transportation infos, taxes. Using the BİLGE system (Bilgisayarlı Gümrük Etkinlikleri-Computerized Customs Activity) customs entry should be given electronically. To take a username and password, it is enough to apply a customs administration.

In approval process, the administration may request to analyze your good, it is called as “goods physical examination”. When the customs office checks and approves your customs declaration for the products you want to export, you are ready to export.
